Who We Are

For several years Rainbow City and Southside Animal Control has provided services to help and protect abused, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats in Etowah County. With very limited resources, we shelter and provide animal control services. We do , however, rescue and re-home hundreds of dogs and cats each year. We rely on the generosity of caring people like you. To make a donation just call or come by...We are 501k so it is tax deductable.

Adopting a friend

Our goal is to match great pets with great adopters. We are open Tuesday thru Thursday from 12noon until 4 p.m. Placing a pet in a new home is a great resposibility and we want to get it right. If you are interested in one of our pets please give us a call or email and let's work together. Our adoption fee is $65.00 for all pets. This fee will cover cost of heartworm testing for dogs and feline leukemia testing for cats, spaying or neutering, rabies vaccination, vaccines. Microchipping is available with adoptions for an additional $10. Adopters must agree to provide the pet with a good home, including, but not limited to, adequate food, constant availability to water and shelter, exercise and all necessary veterinary care.

Come Visit Us!

We are located at 1297 W. Grand Av in Rainbow City, Alabama, next door to Central Valley Animal Hospital. Our office hours are 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday. Most days there is a volunteer to assist you with viewing or adopting a pet during morning hours. Our telephone number is 256-413-3052. If you would like to view or adopt between the hours of 8:00 until 11:00am , call ahead to be sure an employee or volunteer will be available to assist you.
